How to Pair a Somfy Smoove RTS II Wall Switch

A Somfy Smoove RTS II wall switch can usually be added to an existing Somfy RTS blind without resetting the motor. The safest method uses a working RTS remote or wall control that is already paired to the motor.
These instructions are for adding a compatible Smoove RTS II control to a working RTS motor. Initial motor commissioning, recovering a motor with no working controller and programming a wired or Zigbee motor are different procedures.
Before You Start
Confirm that the motor uses Somfy RTS. Smoove RTS II will not directly pair with a Zigbee-only Somfy motor or a motor that has only direct wired control.
Make sure the blind already has correct upper and lower limits and that the existing control operates it normally. Fit a fresh battery to the new Smoove if its indicator is weak or it does not respond.
If the existing remote has several channels, select the individual channel that controls only the motor you want to copy. Using a group channel can add the new Smoove to every motor in that group.
Pairing a Smoove 1 RTS II
Step 1: Wake and test the new control
Remove any battery transport tab and make sure the Smoove is active. Press a command and confirm the control shows a response. Do not begin with a factory reset.
Step 2: Put the motor into programming mode
On the existing working RTS control, press and hold the PROG button until the target motor briefly moves up and down. This movement is commonly called a jog and confirms that the motor is ready to learn another control.
Step 3: Add the new Smoove
Briefly press the PROG button on the new Smoove RTS II. The motor should jog again to confirm that the new control has been stored.
Step 4: Test all commands
Press up, down and stop on the new Smoove. Check the direction and confirm that only the intended blind or group responds.
Pairing a Channel on Smoove 4 RTS II
The process is similar, but first select the destination channel on the Smoove 4. Then place the motor into programming mode using the existing control and briefly press PROG on the new Smoove while the intended channel remains selected.
Repeat the process for other motors or groups, selecting the correct destination channel each time. Keep a written channel plan until the installation is fully tested.
Creating a Group
A group is created by pairing several compatible RTS motors to the same Smoove channel. Add the motors one at a time so you can confirm each result. Before grouping, retain an individual control channel for every motor if future limit adjustment or troubleshooting may be required.
Do not adjust motor limits from a group containing several blinds. Limits should be checked and changed with one motor selected at a time.
How to Set the “my” Favourite Position
The “my” button can stop a moving blind and recall a stored favourite position. The exact favourite-position procedure can depend on the motor. Typically, move the blind to the desired position and use the required press-and-hold sequence from the motor instructions to store it.
If a short press does not recall the position after pairing, confirm that a favourite has been stored for that motor rather than assuming the wall control is faulty.
If the Motor Does Not Jog
Check the source control
Confirm the existing remote still operates the motor and that the correct individual channel is selected.
Check the protocol
Look for RTS identification on the motor, receiver or existing control. Similar-looking Somfy products may use different technology.
Check the button and timing
The source PROG press is normally held until the motor jogs. The new control’s PROG press is brief. If the motor exits programming mode before the second step, start again.
Check the Smoove battery and active mode
A flat battery or transport/deactivated state can prevent the new controller from transmitting. Recheck the battery orientation and activation instructions.
If You Have No Working Somfy Remote
Do not copy a generic power-cycle or factory-reset sequence from another Somfy motor. Reset procedures vary and can erase limits or affect more than one motor connected to the same power circuit.
Identify the exact motor model and obtain its specific recovery procedure. If several motors share a circuit or the motor is difficult to access, get compatibility and programming help before interrupting power.
Final Check Before Mounting
Test the Smoove from the intended wall position before fixing the frame. Confirm reliable operation, correct channel selection and the expected group. Once everything works, install the wall plate where it is visible, convenient and away from moisture or direct impact.
