Smart Blind Hubs Australia

Control your motorised blinds from your phone, create automatic schedules and connect compatible blinds to your smart home with the Automate Pulse Pro or Somfy TaHoma Switch.

The correct smart blind hub is determined by your motor brand and control technology.

Make Your Motorised Blinds Smarter

A smart blind hub connects compatible motorised blinds to your home network and mobile app.

Once connected, you can control blinds from your phone, create groups and scenes, schedule automatic movement and connect to supported voice assistants and smart-home platforms.

A compatible hub can add:

  • Smartphone and tablet control

  • Automatic opening and closing schedules

  • Sunrise and sunset routines

  • Room and whole-home blind groups

  • Scenes involving multiple blinds

  • Compatible voice control

  • Control while you are away from home

  • Integration with supported smart-home systems

You can continue using your existing compatible remotes and wall switches after adding a hub.

Choose the Hub That Matches Your Motor

Automate and Somfy use different communication technologies. The two hubs are not interchangeable.

Automate Pulse Pro Hub

Choose the Automate Pulse Pro for compatible Automate ARC motors.

Somfy TaHoma Switch

Choose the Somfy TaHoma Switch for compatible Somfy RTS and Somfy Zigbee products..

Check Before Ordering

Do not select a hub based only on the app features or appearance. It must be compatible with the motor already installed in your blind.

The Automate Pulse Pro does not control Somfy motors, and the Somfy TaHoma Switch does not control Automate ARC motors.

If you are unsure, send us a clear photograph of your motor label or existing remote before ordering

Which Smart Blind Hub Do You Need?

Choose Automate Pulse Pro if:

Best for one blind or several blinds that should always move together.

For example, three blinds across the same window can be programmed to one channel

  • Your motors use Automate ARC technology

  • Your existing remote is an Automate ARC remote

  • You are replacing or upgrading an Automate Pulse 2 Hub

  • You want Matter-compatible integration for your Automate system

  • You want position and battery feedback from supported ARC motors

and operated simultaneously.

Choose Somfy TaHoma if:

  • Your blinds use compatible Somfy RTS motors

  • Your blinds use compatible Somfy Zigbee motors

  • Your existing remote is a Somfy RTS or Zigbee control

  • You want to control Somfy blinds through the TaHoma app

  • You have other compatible Somfy products you want to include in scenes

Neither Hub Is Universal

There is no single hub on this page that directly controls both Automate ARC and Somfy RTS motors.

If your home contains both brands, each system will require its own compatible hub.

What Can a Smart hub Do?

A smart hub does more than replace the buttons on a remote

Morning and Evening Schedules

Open selected blinds automatically in the morning and close them again in the evening.

Sunrise and Sunset Routines

  • Adjust compatible blinds according to changing sunrise or sunset times rather than using one fixed time throughout the year.

Room Control

Group several blinds in the same room and operate them together from one app control.

Whole-Home Scenes

Create scenes that move multiple compatible blinds to selected positions for privacy, glare control, relaxation or leaving the house.

Remote Access

Check and control compatible blinds through the app while you are away from home, subject to the hub’s connection and app services.

Voice and Smart-Home Control

Connect your hub to supported voice assistants or compatible smart-home platforms to include blinds in broader household routines.

Available integrations and functions can depend on the hub, motor, connected platform and region.

Hub, Remote or Wall Switch?

You do not necessarily need a hub simply because your blinds are motorised.

Choose a Remote if:

  • You only want simple open, close and stop control

  • You do not need app control

  • You do not need automatic schedules

  • You want the simplest setup

Choose a Wall Switch if:

  • You want a control that stays in one location

  • Several people need easy access to the blinds

  • You prefer physical buttons near a doorway or window

  • You do not need app control or schedules

Add a Smart Hub if:

  • You want to control blinds from your phone

  • You want automatic schedules and scenes

  • You want compatible voice control

  • You want to control blinds while away

  • You want to connect the blinds with a wider smart-home system

Many customers use all three. The hub adds automation, while remotes and wall switches provide quick physical control.

Will Your Existing Remotes Still Work?

Yes. Adding a compatible smart hub does not normally mean giving up your existing remotes or wall switches.

The hub adds another way to control the motors. You can use the app and automation while continuing to use compatible physical controls around the home.

This provides a useful backup and allows visitors, children or other household members to operate the blinds without using your phone.

Smart Blind Hub Setup

  1. Connect the hub to power.

  2. Connect it to your home network.

  3. Download the appropriate Automate or Somfy app.

  4. Create or sign in to your account.

  5. Add and pair your compatible motorised blinds.

  6. Name individual blinds and organise them into rooms or groups.

  7. Create scenes, timers or schedules.

  8. Connect supported smart-home services if required.

The exact pairing process depends on the motor, hub and controls already programmed into the system.

Place the hub in a central location with a reliable network connection and within suitable radio range of the motors. Large homes, multiple levels and building materials can affect wireless range.

Smart Hub FAQs

Choosing a smart blind hub can raise questions about motor compatibility, apps, schedules, internet access and voice control. These answers will help you determine whether you need a hub and which system is compatible with your blinds.

Can a wall switch control more than one motorised blind?

No. Compatible remotes and wall switches can operate motorised blinds directly. A hub is required when you want app control, schedules, remote access or supported smart-home integration.

Can the Automate Pulse Pro control Somfy motors?

No. Pulse Pro is designed for compatible Automate ARC motors and does not directly control Somfy RTS or Zigbee motors.

Can Somfy TaHoma control Automate motors?

No. TaHoma is designed for compatible Somfy products and does not directly control Automate ARC motors.

Does Somfy TaHoma control both RTS and Zigbee motors?

TaHoma supports selected Somfy RTS and Zigbee products. Compatibility should still be checked against the exact Somfy motor model before ordering.

Is Pulse Pro compatible with older Automate motors?

Pulse Pro is designed to work with compatible Automate ARC motors and replaces the discontinued Pulse 2 Hub. If your motor uses another control technology, confirm compatibility before purchasing.

Can I keep using my existing remote after installing a hub?

Yes. Your compatible remote or wall switch can continue to control the motor after the hub has been added.

Can one hub control several blinds?

Yes. Both systems can control multiple compatible blinds and organise them into rooms, groups or scenes. System limits vary between hubs.

Can I control my blinds when I am away from home?

Yes, when the hub, home internet connection and relevant cloud services are operating correctly.

Will my physical remote still work if the internet is down?

A compatible remote or wall switch communicates directly with the motor and does not rely on your home internet for normal operation.

Can I control both Somfy and Automate blinds from one hub?

No. A mixed-brand installation normally requires both the Automate Pulse Pro and Somfy TaHoma because the motors use different radio technologies.

Will a hub make a manual blind motorised?

No. A compatible motor must already be installed. The hub adds smart control and automation to supported motorised products.

Can I control both Somfy and Automate blinds from one hub?

Do I need an electrician to install a smart blind hub?

Can I control both Somfy and Automate blinds from one hub?

The hubs are plug-in devices and do not normally require an electrician. However, this does not change the installation requirements for any hardwired 240V blind motor.

Where should the hub be positioned?

Place it indoors in a reasonably central location with reliable Wi-Fi or Ethernet access and suitable radio range to the connected motors.

What information do you need to check compatibility?

Send us a clear photograph of the motor label and existing remote. If possible, also provide the motor model number and tell us what type of blind, curtain or awning it operates.
