Somfy TaHoma Switch Not Connecting? Troubleshooting Guide
Updated: 6 days ago
A TaHoma connection problem can occur between the phone and hub, the hub and Wi-Fi, the hub and Somfy motor, or TaHoma and a voice platform. Identify which link has failed before deleting equipment or resetting a motor.
Start by confirming that the blind still works from its normal Somfy remote. If it does, the motor and limits are probably intact and the fault is in the connected-control path.
Check the TaHoma lights
No bottom light: check the hub power supply and connection.
Solid white bottom light: the hub is powered and connected to the Somfy server.
Solid red bottom light: the hub has power but is not connected to the server.
Blinking blue during Wi-Fi configuration: the hub is ready for network setup.
A brief top-light response may indicate a scene command or stop action.
The app cannot find the hub
Confirm the phone’s Bluetooth is enabled.
Allow the TaHoma app to use Bluetooth, local network and location where requested.
Place the phone within approximately two metres of the hub.
Confirm the hub is powered and has completed its startup.
Close and reopen the app.
Scan the correct QR code or enter the PIN from the underside of the hub.
Restart the phone and hub if the discovery process remains stuck.
TaHoma will not join Wi-Fi
Use a secured 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. TaHoma switch does not commission on a 5GHz-only network.
Enter the Wi-Fi password carefully and check for changed router credentials.
Move the hub closer to the router for setup.
Temporarily simplify band steering or mesh access if the phone and hub are being placed on different setup paths.
Avoid guest networks with device isolation.
If Wi-Fi is unreliable at the planned hub location, consider the Somfy TaHoma Ethernet adapter.
Reconnect TaHoma after changing the router or password
Hold the stop button on top of the TaHoma switch until the LED blinks blue.
Open the TaHoma app and select More.
Choose Configuration of the Installation.
Select My Installation Hub, then Configure Wi-Fi.
Choose the secured 2.4GHz network and enter the new password.
Allow any required app or hub update to finish.
An RTS blind will not add
Confirm the blind works from the selected RTS remote channel.
Use an individual channel rather than ALL or a broad group.
Choose the correct product type in TaHoma.
Hold the RTS remote PROG button only until the motor jogs.
Keep the TaHoma hub and remote within reliable range of the motor.
Do not continue in the app until the motor has acknowledged the programming step.
Avoid factory-resetting the motor when its existing remote still works.
A Zigbee blind will not add
Confirm the motor and battery are charged.
Use the correct motor or controller QR code.
Place the device closer to the hub or an established Zigbee repeater.
Build the mesh in order: powered Zigbee devices first, then WireFree motors, then remotes.
Confirm the device is not still joined to another Zigbee network.
Follow the model-specific commissioning prompts rather than RTS programming steps.
The blind works in the app but not by voice
This means the TaHoma-to-motor connection is working. Recheck the voice-service account link, refresh discovered devices, confirm the device is placed in the correct home and room, and simplify duplicate names.
Google and Amazon support depends on the TaHoma integration and compatible equipment. Apple Home works only with selected compatible Zigbee products. An RTS blind that works in TaHoma should not automatically be expected to appear in Apple Home.
A scene or schedule does not run
Test every included blind individually.
Run the scene manually before testing the schedule.
Check the schedule is enabled and assigned to the correct days.
Confirm the TaHoma account location and time settings.
Check whether a device was renamed, removed or moved to another room.
Review fixed-time routines when daylight-saving or seasonal conditions change.
Do not reset first
Deleting a working motor’s programming can turn one connection issue into a complete recommissioning job. Reset only when the model-specific instructions and fault diagnosis show it is necessary.
Information to send for support
Record the TaHoma LED colour, app error message, router model, whether the network is 2.4GHz, motor model, RTS or Zigbee technology and whether the physical remote still works. Photos and a short video are more useful than a general report that the hub is offline.
