Somfy Connexoon vs TaHoma Switch: Should You Upgrade?

Somfy Connexoon Window RTS is discontinued and has been replaced for new installations by TaHoma switch. Existing Connexoon owners, however, should not assume they must immediately replace working hardware.
The correct decision depends on whether Connexoon still controls the required RTS blinds and whether you need TaHoma’s broader hardware, Zigbee support, physical scene buttons or future expansion.
What happened to Connexoon?
Connexoon Window RTS is no longer sold as Somfy’s current hub. Somfy moved existing Connexoon users to the TaHoma by Somfy app, and the old Connexoon app service was withdrawn. Existing account data could transfer to the TaHoma app, although saved scenes may need to be recreated.

Supports Apple Home only with selected compatible Zigbee products.
Do you need to replace a working Connexoon?
Not necessarily. If the existing Connexoon remains online in the TaHoma app, controls all required RTS blinds and delivers the app or voice functions you use, replacement may not create enough benefit.
Keep a record of the account, hub details and motor channels, and retain the RTS remotes. Because the hardware is discontinued, plan for eventual replacement rather than waiting for a failure without documentation.
Reasons to move to TaHoma switch
You are adding compatible Somfy Zigbee motors or products.
The Connexoon hardware is failing or no longer connects reliably.
You want the two physical scene-launch buttons.
You are rebuilding the smart-home installation and want the current supported hub.
You need broader supported Somfy or partner-device compatibility.
You are installing a new Somfy hub rather than maintaining an existing one.
What TaHoma does not change
Moving an RTS blind from Connexoon to TaHoma does not turn the motor into Zigbee. It remains a one-way RTS motor and does not gain the two-way position or battery feedback of a compatible Zigbee motor.
Likewise, TaHoma does not make Somfy RTS blinds generally compatible with Apple Home. Somfy Australia limits Apple Home connectivity to selected compatible Zigbee products.
Before migrating
Confirm every blind works from its RTS remote.
Record each remote channel and room name.
Take screenshots of existing scenes and schedules.
Check the email address attached to the Somfy account.
Identify which routines must be rebuilt.
Place TaHoma on secured 2.4GHz Wi-Fi within reliable range.
Add and test one RTS blind before transferring the whole installation.
Will the RTS remotes still work?
Yes, compatible RTS remotes can remain the direct physical controls. Adding a hub creates another way to command the motors; it does not require the household to abandon remotes.
Should a new buyer purchase Connexoon?
No. Connexoon is obsolete. For a new compatible Somfy connected-control installation, TaHoma switch is the current product.
The recommendation
Keep a working Connexoon when it still delivers every required RTS function and there is no meaningful reason to change. Choose TaHoma switch for new installations, failed Connexoon hardware, Zigbee expansion, physical scene buttons or a broader current Somfy ecosystem.
