How to Set Up Somfy TaHoma Switch with RTS and Zigbee Blinds
Updated: 5 days ago
Somfy TaHoma switch can connect compatible RTS and Zigbee blinds to the TaHoma app, scenes, schedules and supported voice services. The setup differs by motor technology, so identify each blind as RTS or Zigbee before pairing.
Do not reset working motors as a first step. Complete the motor setup with the correct physical control, confirm the limits and favourite position, then add the blind to TaHoma.
Before installing TaHoma switch
Charge battery motors and confirm every blind works from its existing remote.
For RTS motors, complete remote pairing, upper and lower limits and the ‘my’ favourite position.
For Zigbee motors, have the motor and Ysia control QR codes available where supplied.
Connect the phone to a secured 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.
Enable Bluetooth, location and local-network permissions requested by the TaHoma app.
Keep the phone within about two metres of the hub during initial commissioning.
Have an active email address available for the Somfy account.
Set up the TaHoma switch hub
Download the TaHoma by Somfy app from the App Store or Google Play.
Power the TaHoma switch and allow it to start.
Open the app and select the TaHoma switch model.
Scan or enter the hub information requested by the app. The hub PIN is printed on the underside.
Enable Bluetooth and select the secured 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.
Enter the Wi-Fi password and link the hub to the Somfy account.
Keep the app open if the hub requires a software update.
Name the installation and confirm the hub is shown online before adding blinds.
Add a Somfy RTS blind
RTS equipment is normally transferred to TaHoma from a working RTS control point. Select the individual channel that operates the blind—not an ALL or unrelated group channel—then follow the app’s Add Equipment process.
In TaHoma, choose to add equipment and select the appropriate RTS blind or motor category.
Select the individual channel on the existing RTS remote.
When prompted, press and hold the remote’s PROG button until the motor briefly moves or jogs.
Continue only after the motor has acknowledged the programming command.
Use the app’s open and close test.
Name the blind by room and position, then save it.
Repeat one individual RTS product at a time.
RTS is one-way. TaHoma can send commands, but it does not receive the same live position feedback available from compatible Zigbee motors.
Add a Somfy Zigbee blind
Zigbee devices join a mesh network and use a different commissioning method. Keep the supplied QR codes and follow the TaHoma app prompts for the exact motor and Ysia control.
Pair powered or wired Zigbee devices first when they will strengthen the mesh.
Then add WireFree Zigbee motors.
Add compatible Zigbee remotes after the motors.
Keep the motor charged and close to the working mesh during commissioning.
Do not attempt to pair a Zigbee motor with an RTS Situo, Telis or Smoove RTS control.
Confirm position and battery feedback after the device is added.
Create rooms and names
Use simple names that voice assistants will understand, such as Living Room Left, Living Room Right and Main Bedroom. Avoid using several devices with nearly identical names.
Group devices by the way the household uses them. A room can contain several blinds, while a scene can combine positions across rooms.
Set the two TaHoma buttons
TaHoma switch has two customisable scene-launch buttons and a centre stop button. Assign the two scene buttons to frequent routines such as Good Morning and Close All, so essential actions do not depend on finding a phone.
Add schedules
Create a scene first, then schedule it by time or another supported trigger. Test the scene manually before adding automation. Start with one morning and one evening routine rather than programming the entire house at once.
Connect a voice assistant
Once the blinds work correctly in the TaHoma app, connect the supported Google, Amazon, Apple or SmartThings service from the app or the selected smart-home platform. Apple Home compatibility is limited to selected compatible Zigbee products; RTS devices should not be assumed to appear in Apple Home.
Final setup checks
Every blind works from its physical remote.
Every blind works individually in TaHoma.
Room controls move only the intended blinds.
Scenes have been tested before schedules are enabled.
The hub remains within reliable Wi-Fi and motor-radio range.
The hub PIN and motor labels have been recorded.
The physical remotes have been retained.
If the hub will not join Wi-Fi or a blind fails to add, use the TaHoma troubleshooting guide before resetting any motor.
