Somfy Remote Replacement Guide Australia – Which Remote Do I Need?
If your Somfy remote has been lost, damaged or discontinued, the important thing is not to buy a replacement based on appearance alone. The replacement needs to use the same control technology as your motor and suit the way your blinds, curtains or awnings are set up.
For most older Somfy installations in Australia, the first question is whether the motor uses RTS. Somfy RTS operates at 433.42 MHz in Australia. Newer Somfy systems may use Zigbee, and an RTS remote will not control a Zigbee motor.
Quick answer: which Somfy remote should I replace mine with?
If you have an older standard Somfy RTS remote, a current Situo RTS II model is often the right starting point. The number of channels determines how many individual motors or groups you can select from the handset.
Situo 1 RTS II Pure (Ref 1871413): one channel for one motor or one group of motors.
Situo 2 RTS II Pure (Ref 1871417): two channels for two separately controlled motors or groups.
Situo 5 RTS II Pure (Ref 1871415): five channels for several motors, rooms or groups. Somfy lists this model as the replacement for the obsolete Telis 4 RTS, and also as the replacement for the earlier Situo 5 RTS Pure.
Telis 16 RTS (Ref 1811020): still available for larger RTS installations and can manage up to 16 groups.

Replacing an old Telis remote
The Telis family was widely used with Somfy RTS motors. If your old Telis remote has stopped working, you do not necessarily need to find the exact same handset. What matters is matching the RTS technology and choosing enough channels for your existing setup.
For example, Somfy now marks the Telis 4 RTS as obsolete and nominates the Situo 5 RTS II Pure (Ref 1871415) as its replacement. That makes the current five-channel Situo the logical replacement where an older Telis 4 was being used as a standard multi-channel RTS control.
Replacing an older Situo remote
Somfy has also superseded earlier Situo models. The original Situo 1 RTS Pure is listed by Somfy as obsolete and replaced by Situo 1 RTS II Pure (Ref 1871413). The original Situo 5 RTS Pure is listed as obsolete and replaced by Situo 5 RTS II Pure (Ref 1871415).
If your old remote has extra functions such as sun control or precise slat tilt, do not replace it with a standard Situo simply because the channel count matches. Those functions require the appropriate remote type.
Standard RTS, Soliris or Variation?
Standard Situo RTS remotes provide normal up, stop/my and down control. Soliris RTS remotes add control associated with compatible sun-sensor systems. Variation RTS remotes include a scroll wheel for finer tilt or positioning on compatible Venetian blinds and similar applications.
Somfy lists the older Situo 1 Soliris RTS Pure as obsolete and replaced by Situo 1 Soliris II Pure (Ref 1871418). If your old handset has a sun-function button, check the exact model before ordering a standard replacement.
RTS and Zigbee are not interchangeable
This is one of the easiest mistakes to make. Somfy sells both RTS and Zigbee controls in Australia. A Somfy-branded remote is not automatically compatible with every Somfy motor.
If your motor is RTS, choose a compatible RTS control. If your motor is Zigbee, choose a compatible Somfy Zigbee control such as the Ysia range. Do not use the shape or colour of the handset as the compatibility test.
What if I still have a working remote?
If at least one existing RTS remote still operates the blind, adding a second compatible RTS remote is usually much easier because the working handset can be used to place the motor into programming mode.

What if the original remote is completely lost or dead?
Do not immediately reset or power-cycle the motor. Recovery depends on the exact motor, its power supply and whether other motors share the same electrical circuit. A generic reset sequence can create additional problems, particularly on installations with several blinds.
Before doing anything, identify the motor if possible. A clear photograph of the motor label, the old remote or any remaining controls can make identification much easier.
Can a five-channel remote replace a one-channel remote?
In many RTS installations, yes. Channel count is about how many individual motors or groups the handset can select; it does not mean a five-channel RTS remote only works with five-motor systems. A compatible RTS motor can be assigned to one of the channels, and multiple motors can also be programmed as a group.
Likewise, you can add a one-channel Situo to an installation that previously used a multi-channel remote if you only need that new handset to operate one motor or group.

Check the model or reference number on the old remote, confirm whether the motor uses RTS or Zigbee, work out how many blinds or groups you need to control, and note whether the old handset has special functions such as a timer, sun control or a variation/tilt wheel.
