If you're looking into motorising your roller blinds, curtains, or awnings with Automate ARC motors, chances are you've come across the Pulse Pro Hub. This new hub officially replaced the Pulse 2 on May 5th, bringing better range, faster performance, and smarter features. But what exactly does it do? Do you need one? And how is it different from a remote or wall switch?

Let’s break it down simply.







The Hub Is the Bridge Between Your Motors and Your Smart Home

The Automate Pulse Pro Hub connects your ARC motors to your Wi-Fi network. That means you can control your roller blinds, curtains, and other motorised window furnishings using:

  • The Automate app on your phone or tablet

  • Voice assistants like Google Assistant, Alexa, or Siri (via Apple Shortcuts)

It also includes support for Matter, although integration with third party platforms like Home Assistant and SmartThings is not yet live.

Without a hub, your remotes and switches still work, but your setup stays offline and can't be automated or controlled by voice or app. With a hub, your blinds become smart.


What Can You Actually Do With It?

Once connected, the Pulse Pro Hub gives you full control over your window furnishings. You can:

  • Open, close, or stop motors from your phone

  • Set timers and daily schedules

  • Group multiple blinds together

  • Control them from outside your home

  • Sync blinds with sunrise, sunset, or time of day routines

  • Use voice commands like “Hey Google, close the blinds”

You can even see the motor's battery level in the app, or check if your blinds are open or closed.

Automated schedules can also help protect your flooring and furniture from UV damage by automatically closing blinds when the sun is strongest.


Do You Need a Hub?

You don’t need a hub if:

  • You only want to control your blinds with a physical remote or wall switch

  • You don’t use smart assistants or apps

You do need a hub if:

  • You want phone or voice control

  • You want to automate your blinds with schedules

  • You want remote access when you're not at home

  • You want full smart home integration
