How to Add a Second Automate Remote to Your Blinds

You can add a second compatible Automate ARC remote without deleting the controller that already works. The safest approach is to copy an individual shade channel from the existing remote to the destination channel on the new remote.
This is useful when you want a spare handset, a controller on each side of the room, a wall control near the entrance or a new multi-channel remote that keeps the established motor limits.
Before you start
Confirm that the motor and both controls use Automate ARC.
Make sure the existing remote still operates the exact blind you want to copy.
Locate the P2 programming button on both controls. It is commonly behind the battery cover; Push Pro uses the Menu button as P2 while in Installer Mode.
Choose an individual shade channel on the old remote. Do not use channel 0, ALL or a group channel as the source.
Choose the empty destination channel on the new remote before beginning.
Work close to the blind so you can see each jog and hear each beep.
Copy the channel to the second remote
On the existing remote, select the individual channel that operates the blind.
On the new remote, select the channel where you want that blind stored.
Press P2 once on the existing remote. The motor should acknowledge the command with a jog and beep.
Press P2 a second time on the existing remote and wait for the next acknowledgement.
Within four seconds, press P2 on the new remote. The motor should confirm that the destination controller or channel has been added.
Test up, stop and down from the new remote, then confirm that the original remote still works.
For Push Pro, enter Installer Mode before using the Menu button as P2. Leave Installer Mode after testing so advanced programming controls are not left exposed.
If the new remote does not work
Confirm the old remote was on an individual shade channel, not ALL or a group.
Repeat the process with both destination selections prepared before the first P2 press.
Make sure each P2 press is separate and the motor acknowledges it.
Complete the final step within the four-second programming window.
Move closer to the motor and check the new controller battery.
Check that a Paradigm wall controller is in ARC mode rather than legacy EL mode.
Confirm the motor has not reached its controller or channel pairing capacity.
Adding a controller from the motor button
If the motor P1 button is accessible, an alternative method can add a compatible controller while keeping the existing limits. Put the motor into its add-controller pairing state with the specified P1 action, then hold STOP on the selected destination controller until the motor confirms. Use the programming instructions for the exact motor, because P1 hold times have different functions.
Do not factory-reset the motor
A factory reset is not part of adding a second controller. On many Automate ARC motors, holding P1 for about 14 seconds removes remote pairings and motor settings. Stop after the first pairing acknowledgement and follow the add-controller instructions only.
Can you copy several blinds?
Yes, but copy them one at a time from their individual source channels. Select the correct old and new channel for each blind, repeat the sequence, and test after every copy. Once the individual shades are present on the new remote, create the desired group using that controller’s group instructions.
What if the old remote is lost or completely dead?
